Caroline Holland '21 Creates App to Connect Female Runners with Run Partners & Groups

Shoutout to Caroline Holland '21. The Vanderbilt University junior created Chicks with Kicks, an app that connects fellow female runners with fellow female run partners or run groups instead of running alone.

Caroline created the platform following the murder of Laken Riley, the nursing student who was murdered while running. Caroline felt the need to be able to connect female runners so that they had safety in numbers.
Caroline is currently training for a marathon and is an avid runner.

“I’ve been chased before by homeless people. I’ve been followed by cars. There’s been numerous times where I’ve been on a run and I’ve had to call Ubers to get back home…I never feel like when I’m alone I can fully enjoy my run. I’m always so on guard,” Holland said.

Caroline has been interviewed by Inside Edition, Nashville TV stations WKRN and WSMV and The Tennessean Newspaper for her efforts thus far. Her goal is for other campuses and communities to create similar groups and prevent what happened to Laken Riley from happening to other female runners.

Way to go, Caroline.
