NORFOLK COLLEGIATE libraries
Norfolk Collegiate is home to two libraries, the Lower School Library and the Stanton Library at the Middle and Upper School campus.
Lower School Library
A wonderful educational resource, the Lower School’s library holds more than 20,000 volumes on our shelves and offers access to a variety of print and online materials. In addition to supporting the curriculum at each grade level, the library also is used as a resource for in-class assignments, research projects and reading for pleasure.
The Norfolk Collegiate Lower School Library is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the school year with the exception of early dismissal days, when it closes at 1 p.m.
The Stanton Library serves our Middle and Upper School from the second floor of the school. Not only does the library serve to support and enrich the curriculum to help students become effective users of ideas and information, but it also fosters a life-long love of reading in our students.
To prepare our students for the challenges of conducting research in a technologically advanced society, our library strives to strike a balance between print and electronic sources. The Stanton Library is home to more than 10,000 volumes, and also offers access to thousands of periodicals and electronic reference sources through its collection of database subscriptions.
Our librarian also collaborates with teachers to integrate research techniques and information seeking skills across all areas of the curriculum. Additionally, a number of book clubs and other reading programs are available to encourage our students to discover their literary tastes.
The Stanton Library is open from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Friday 7:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Friday during the school year. On early dismissal days, the library will close at 1 p.m.
