Enrollment Contract Withdrawal Policy

It is the policy of Norfolk Collegiate School that upon submission of the student enrollment contract the parent or guardian has agreed to enroll their child and has agreed to be financially responsible for the terms of the contract.

The school recognizes that there may be circumstances in which the parent/guardian will request release from the enrollment contract prior to the commencement of the school year.

A request for release from the enrollment contract is required to be submitted in writing to the director of admissions for review and recommendation to the headmaster for approval or denial. In deciding whether to approve a release, consideration will be given to families that are moving from the Hampton Roads geographical area.

The following guidelines are to be used regarding the financial responsibility of the parent/guardian upon approval of the request for release from the contract.

  • The enrollment deposit is non-refundable, even if the release is approved.

  • A request for release received prior to June 1, if approved, will require the parent/guardian to pay 10% of the tuition required by the contract.

  • A request for release received between June 1 and July 31, if approved, will require the parent/guardian to pay 50% of the tuition required by the contract.

  • A request for release received between August 1 and the first day of school, if approved, will require the parent/guardian to pay 100% of the tuition required by the contract, unless, in the discretion of the Headmaster, payment of a lesser amount is proposed by the Headmaster and accepted by the parent/guardian. Payment of less than 100% of full tuition will only be proposed by the Headmaster in emergency or exigent circumstances.

  • A request for release received after the first day of school, if approved, will require the parent/guardian to pay 100% of the tuition required by the contract.  However, if the parent/guardian enrolled in the Tuition Refund Plan, the parent/guardian will only be obligated to pay the portion of tuition not paid by that Plan.

Even if a request for release is approved, the parent/guardian will remain obligated under the contract, including payment of 100% of the tuition required by the contract, until the parent/guardian has paid the applicable portion of the tuition required by this policy as set forth above.
