This week brought exciting news for NCS alumus Keith Wright '08. The Dallas Mavericks announced their summer league team and Keith was among the 13 players selected. After a stellar basketball career at Harvard, the first team All-Ivy standout is following in the footsteps of another Harvard College alum, Jeremy Lin, who started his professional career at the Mavericks summer league. The official sports blog of "
The Harvard Crimson" also commented on the great news.
Last April Keith visited NCS and took time to speak with 5th grade students and share his story. Keith is an exceptional role model for our students. While his passion and talents shine on the basketball court, Keith stressed the importance of excelling academically and working hard to achieve your goals. He explained how his teachers, guidance counselors and coaches at Norfolk Collegiate School motivated him and prepared him to achieve his dream of attending an Ivy League school.
Keith spent an hour answering questions from our curious and gregarious 5th grade students. He talked about his dreams of playing professional basketball in the NBA, his curriculum at Harvard, his Senior Project at NCS, and tips about succeeding in the upper school. He even fielded questions about his height (6’8”), shoe size (Size 15), favorite basketball shot (dunk, of course) and whether or not he knows Jeremy Lin (yes!).
