Norfolk Collegiate School Director of College Counseling Betty Jones was awarded the prestigious Richard L. Apperson Award by the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admissions Counseling (PCACAC) on Friday, April 23. The award, named in honor of PCACAC’s first president, is the association’s highest honor, recognizing an individual who exemplifies the ideals of the college admissions profession. It is considered to be a lifetime achievement award.
Jones, who has worked at Norfolk Collegiate, for 34 years, was cited for her achievements in the realm of college counseling and for inspiring thousands of students during her tenure. “It is overwhelming to be recognized with this award,” she said. “My colleagues have placed me in the company of giants and I am tremendously touched.” Founded in 1964, the Potomac and Chesapeake Association for College Admissions Counseling (PCACAC) is a professional organization for those who work with students in the transition between high school and college.
