Over 25 Norfolk Collegiate School students entered the Holocaust Visual Arts competition sponsored by the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater. This year's competition focused on the theme of “Combating Hatred, Prejudice and Propaganda."
NCS Art Teacher Nance Corriveau has encouraged her students to enter this contest for the past several years. She and her students looked to the stories of Holocaust survivors to find inspiration. "I feel that creating a positive response to combat hate-filled messages of Nazi propaganda will give an understanding to our students how to right the wrong," she said. "The creative ideas they came up with demonstrates that the power of love wins over the love of power," concluded Corriveau. Contest winners will be announced next month.
