Guns, Germs, and Steel by Jared Diamond
This book is widely available in local libraries, and online bookstores carry it inexpensively.

You should read the prologue and chapters 1, 3, 4, 19, and the epilogue.

Respond to these two questions in one to two page essays. Your responses should be typed in 12 point font and double-spaced. Include specific examples from the book to back up your responses and be careful to include the corresponding page numbers for each example you use.

Question 1: What is Diamond’s overall theme? How did he go about trying to prove his argument? Were you convinced? Why or why not?

Question 2: How does this book relate to you – your life and the world in which you live?

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. Have a great summer.
