The first grade teachers hope you enjoy reading lots of good books this summer as you prepare for your first grade year. During the first week of first grade we will take time to let you share the following literacy activity with all of us. Please see directions below.
1. Choose a book from the list provided that you can read independently from our summer reading list.
2. On a piece of paper, at the top of the page write the word “Self”. With a parent’s help, write a word to describe how the book makes you feel. Using crayons draw a picture to illustrate your feelings.
3. On a separate piece of paper, at the top of the page write the word “Book”. With a parent’s help, write a sentence about something you were reminded of while reading this book. Using crayons draw a picture to illustrate your thoughts.
4. On a third piece of paper, at the top of the page write the word "World". With a parent’s help, write a sentence telling how events in this story are similar or different to events that happen in our world. Using crayons draw a picture to illustrate your thoughts.
