Middle & Upper School Fine Arts Teacher
Norfolk Collegiate School's Fine and Performing Arts Department is seeking applicants for a full-time Fine Arts position for the 2013-14 academic year. Full-time appointments entail teaching five sections – some in middle and upper school, advising approximately 16 middle school students, and actively participating in the extracurricular life of the school according to the school's needs and the candidate's talents and interests.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated competencies in the following areas:
- Responsible for : Planning, developing, revising, implementing and supervising a quality visual arts program for all levels (6-12)
- Curriculum Design. Experience in designing and implementing curriculum mapping.
- Media and Materials. Demonstrating subject matter competency in the field of the arts. Possesses broad range of knowledge of and design in a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, stain glass, collage, leather tooling, design, and pottery. Knowledge in photography and CS5 Photoshop software.
- Art through the Ages. Regularly incorporates art history and contemporary art in ways that are engaging and meaningful to students and objectives.
- Assessment. Demonstrates understanding of how students acquire knowledge in the field of the arts. Regularly utilizes in class assessments, peer evaluations, self evaluations, and critiques.
- Educational Background and Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
- Personal attributes: Receptiveness to feedback and a desire to continuously improve, a strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement, a belief that all students should be held to high standards, a positive attitude and a drive for personal excellence, outstanding instructional skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge students and maintain an orderly classroom environment, an ability to work collaboratively, and high ethics and morals and the willingness to demonstrate and share with student advisees.

Foreign Language Department instructor Norfolk Collegiate School’sForeign Language Departmentis seeking applicants for a full-time Spanish/French instructor position for the academic year 2013-14. Responsibilities will include teaching up to five sessions of mostly Spanish class, coaching two seasons or the equivalent, and advising approximately ten students. Other duties may include, but are not limited to, proctoring study halls, chaperoning dances, or serving on committees.
Ideal candidates will have teaching experience in upper school and a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to learning. We seek teachers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching young adults. They should have an established interest in working with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. The position requires collaborative work with other teachers and administrators. Additionally, the person hired should expect to serve as an academic advisor and to participate in extracurricular activities in a substantive way. This position requires a candidate who has a strong Spanish teaching background but who could also teach some introductory French.

Bus Drivers: Norfolk Collegiate School seeks part-time bus drivers for the upcoming school year. Responsibilities include afternoon and occasional evening driving of athletic teams for practices and games. From time to time, there will also be opportunities to drive students and teachers to field trips during the school day. Drivers are expected to have an up-to-date CDL with and S or P endorsement and will be paid $10 per hour with a $40 per trip minimum.
